ATEX Diaphragm Pumps
The new ATEX chemistry diaphragm pumps and ATEX chemistry vacuum systems
Since July 1st 2003, in the European Union only equipment with ATEX conformity (European Union Directive 94/9/EC) may be used in potentially explosive atmospheres. Based on the successful chemistry diaphragm pumps, VACUUBRAND has developed pumps of equipment class 2 (e.g. for use in zone 1) with ATEX conformity. Combined with the well-known EX vacuum gauges, VACUUBRAND offers an complete product range for the generation and measurement of vacuum in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Application
Many solvents are flammable and have a high vapour pressure, therefore they can form an explosive mixture with air. Thanks to their high chemical resistance, oilfree operation, absence of friction and hermetical separation of pumping chamber and motor, chemistry diaphragm pumps offer excellent features for the avoidance of ignition sources. Especially VACUUBRAND's chemistry diaphragm pumps with their precisely guided planar diaphragms show clear advantages. Typical applications are e.g. vacuum generation in rotary evaporators, parallel evaporators, cabinet dryers with solvents as well as all applications with large quantities of flammable solvents.
Advantages
- motor with integrated self-locking overload and excess-temperature protection for direct 230 V / 50 Hz single-phase power supply. No need for expensive additional overcurrent protection
- diaphragm pump heads made of antistatic, reinforced fluoroplastics, partly with metal stability core. Connecting elements and other parts made of antistatic materials
- separate inert gas connection included
- overpressure safety relief valves internally and at outlet
- Safety dual-diaphragm technology with inert gas purge option
